CS 115 Computers and Applications

Barbara Nostrand, Ph.D.

Welcome to Computer's and Applications. Back in the mists of time, computers were sealed in air-conditioned vaults attended by a select priesthood of programmers and operators. Today, computers can be found almost everywhere. Advertisers, television programs and even pets and stuffed animals have their own web pages and email accounts. Special purpose computers fly commerical aircraft and can be found burried inside telephones and toasters. Computers are now profoundly integrated into modern society. Still they remain a mystery to even many skilled users. This course is intended to remove some of that mystery, and to introduce you to a number of computer applications which you will be using in your coures at Wilkes University.
